Gold mines and horse races...

Hi All,

Grandma Breeze is visiting from Perth at the moment and it really is great to see her again - she's a great old soul:)

Kerry, Grandma and I went to Bendigo over the weekend. It's an old gold rush town which still thrives today and is home to some fantastic Victorian architecture - none of which I managed to photograph... We had a good look around and I went underground with Grandma at the Central Deborah gold mine. She's an outrageous flirt and was very pleased to have Reggie the tour guide's arms around her as he fastened her miner's lamp:)

Yesterday was the first Tuesday in November and one of Victoria's religious holidays. After a champagne breakfast at ours we got the tram down to Flemington for a fantastic day of sunshine, unsuccessful box trifectas, beers and champagne at the Melbourne Cup.

History will note that Makybe Diva romped in to win the all important race seven. A great day and we can certainly see what all the fuss is about - Kerry and I are fast becoming converts to this great city and it's events.

Of course after a big day like that one needs to wind down a little with a few quiet drinks. What better place to do it than our local Irish pub - The Quiet Man:)
